Made for the way these arrangements are played

Anime piano covers tend to have a flowing, arpeggiated left hand under a singing melody, with plenty of sustain pedal. The transcription follows the notes through the pedal and keeps the timing and dynamics of the performance, so the MIDI sounds like the cover rather than a robotic version of it.

Tick "Separate hands" and choose Classical for flowing, arpeggiated accompaniments, or Jazz if the left hand jumps between a bass note and a chord.

Learn it in Synthesia, or print it

Open the MIDI in Synthesia to watch the notes fall in two colours, slow the hard bars down and practise one hand at a time. Or open it in MuseScore to tidy it into a score.

On a paid plan you can also download the transcription as sheet music directly, as a PDF or MusicXML, with each hand on its own staff.

What works best

A solo piano cover gives the cleanest result. The original soundtrack, with strings, drums or singing, will not: the model hears everything as piano and the result fills up with notes that were never played.

Upload an audio file or a video file you have (MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4 or MOV). From a video, the sound is taken out on your device before anything is uploaded.

Questions

Can I transcribe the original anime soundtrack?

Only if it is solo piano. With a band, orchestra or vocals the result will be poor. Look for a piano cover or piano version of the piece instead.

Can I share or sell the MIDI?

The MIDI is yours to practise with. The music itself belongs to its composer and the arrangement to whoever arranged it, so publishing or selling a transcription can need their permission.

How accurate is it?

Clear, close recordings come out well, and you can hear the result play back before you download it. Fast, heavily pedalled passages may need some notes fixed by hand.
