Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what information PianoToMIDI ("we," "us," or "our"), operated by BelieveMotion Technologies LLC, collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It covers the web app at pianotomidi.app and the transcription service behind it.

Account information

When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google instead, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google — we never see your Google password.

Audio you upload & the MIDI we generate

Your audio file is uploaded directly to our transcription server, processed, and turned into a MIDI file. We don't persist the uploaded audio itself anywhere — it's held in memory only long enough to run the transcription, then discarded, and that queue is also cleared any time the transcription server restarts.

The generated MIDI file is different: since it's notes, timing, and velocity data — not a recording — we save it to your account (along with the original filename) so you can come back and download it again later from My transcriptions. It's kept until you delete it there, or otherwise for as long as your account exists. Deleting a transcription from My transcriptions removes its MIDI file and filename from our database permanently; we can't recover it afterward.

Usage data

We record the date and time of each transcription you run, so we can enforce your plan's usage limit — see the previous section for the generated MIDI files themselves, which are retained separately. Deleting a transcription from My transcriptions doesn't remove this record or give the transcription back to your plan's allowance.

Payment information

If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled entirely by Stripe. We never receive or store your full card number — only a Stripe customer ID and subscription details (plan, status, renewal date) needed to manage your billing.

Technical data

Like most web services, our infrastructure logs standard technical data (IP address, browser type, request timestamps) for security and troubleshooting. We also use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to see aggregate page-view and performance numbers — both are cookie-free and don't identify you individually.

• To provide the Service — authenticate you, run your transcriptions, and return results.
• To process payments and manage subscriptions.
• To enforce plan usage limits.
• To respond when you contact us for support.
• To keep the Service secure and working correctly.

We don't currently send marketing emails, and we don't use your uploaded audio to train any models.

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run PianoToMIDI:

• Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
• Neon — our Postgres database host (account and subscription records).
• Vercel — hosts the web application and provides the cookie-free analytics described above.
• Google — only if you choose to sign in with Google.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights or users' safety.

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Uploaded audio is, as described above, held only transiently and never stored. Generated MIDI files are kept in My transcriptions until you delete them or your account is deleted. Usage timestamps and subscription/billing records are kept as needed for quota enforcement, accounting, and legal obligations.

• You can view your account details from the Account page at any time.
• You can permanently delete any saved transcription yourself from My transcriptions.
• You can cancel a paid subscription anytime from the billing portal linked on your Account page.

We use a single session cookie to keep you signed in. It's strictly functional — we don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

PianoToMIDI isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from them.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information — passwords are hashed, payment data never touches our servers, and transfers are encrypted in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, though, so we can't guarantee absolute security.

Our infrastructure runs in the United States. If you use the Service from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
