Free transcriptions cover the first 2 minutes of a recording; anything after that is left out. Paid plans go up to 15 minutes.
Transcribing needs an account — we’ll hold onto your file while you sign in.
Made for piano, not for everything
General audio-to-MIDI converters try to handle any instrument and end up guessing at chords. This one is trained on piano alone, so it can tell ten notes sounding at once apart from each other and follow them through a sustained passage.
That focus is also the limit: it expects a piano. A full band mix or a vocal track will not come out well.
What a compressed file costs you
MP3 compression throws away detail the ear barely notices, and most of it is detail the transcription does not need either. A normal 128 kbps or higher MP3 transcribes about as well as the uncompressed original.
What hurts more than the format is the recording itself: heavy room echo, background noise, or other instruments playing along.
What you get back
A standard MIDI file that opens in any DAW, notation program or piano-roll app. You can slow it down, loop a bar, change the instrument, or print it as sheet music.
Tick "Separate hands" before uploading and the file comes back with the left and right hand on their own tracks.
Questions
Which bitrates work?
Any normal MP3 works. Very low bitrates (below about 96 kbps) start to smear fast passages and quiet notes, so use the best copy you have.
Can I convert an MP3 with singing or a band?
It will run, but the result will be poor. The model listens for piano and will try to explain everything it hears as piano notes.
Is the MP3 kept after conversion?
No. The audio is processed and discarded. Only the resulting MIDI file is saved to your account, and you can delete it from your history at any time.
