For teachers
Transcription for piano teachers
A student brings in a recording of a piece they want to learn and there is no sheet music for it. Or you want to show them exactly what they played. Upload the recording and get the notes back, with each hand on its own track.
10 free minutes of transcription every 30 days, whole pieces included, no card required. See plans

The free plan transcribes recordings up to 10 minutes, 10 minutes every 30 days. Paid plans go up to 30 minutes.
Transcribing needs an account — we’ll hold onto your file while you sign in.
Pieces with no score
Students ask to learn what they hear: a jazz standard from a particular album, an old stride record, an improvisation. Upload the recording and you get every note back as MIDI, which you can open in MuseScore and tidy into a score for them.
Tick "Separate hands" and the right and left hand come back on their own tracks, so the import lands on a treble and a bass staff instead of one crowded line.
Hearing what a student actually played
Record a student on your phone, video or audio, and upload it. The transcription shows what came out, not what was meant: the dropped note in the left hand, the rushed run, the uneven chord.
It is the same performance, held still, so you can talk through a bar with the notes in front of you both.
Practice material
A MIDI file can be slowed down without changing pitch, looped one bar at a time, or played one hand at a time in Synthesia or a DAW. That turns a recording into something a student can practise along with at home.
Questions
Do my students need accounts?
No. You transcribe the recordings on your account and send them the MIDI or the score you make from it.
How accurate is it on student playing?
It transcribes what it hears, mistakes included, which is often the point. A quiet room and the phone close to the piano make the biggest difference to the result.
How much teaching material fits in a plan?
The 10 free minutes cover a few short pieces. Standard is $9 a month for 90 minutes of recordings and Pro is $19 for 400, and only the length of each recording counts.
