Why pianists choose PianoToMIDI
10 minutes free
Enough to hear a whole piece come out, against a 20-second demo.
Left and right hand on their own tracks
Two styles: one for jazz, stride and ragtime, one for classical.
Timing as you played it
The MIDI keeps the rubato, swing and dynamics of the recording.
Video uploads
MP4 and MOV, with the sound pulled out in your browser.
What this page says about Piano2Notes is from its own site in October 2026.
The performance, not just the notes
PianoToMIDI keeps the timing and dynamics of what was played rather than fitting it to a grid, and puts the left and right hand on separate tracks, with a style for jazz, stride and ragtime and one for classical.
That is what you want for Synthesia, for learning a solo by slowing it down, or for putting a performance into a DAW.
A real free try
The free plan transcribes 10 minutes every 30 days, whole pieces up to 10 minutes included, with the full result to play and download. Piano2Notes’ free demo covers the first 20 seconds.
Straight from your phone’s video
Upload an MP4 or MOV and the sound is taken out on your device, so there is nothing to convert first.
Questions
Can I turn PianoToMIDI’s MIDI into sheet music?
Yes. Open it in MuseScore (free), Sibelius or Dorico. With the hands separated, each hand lands on its own staff.
Does it work for jazz piano?
Yes. Hand separation has a style made for jazz, stride and ragtime, where the left hand leaps between bass notes and chords.
Where does the information about other tools come from?
