Transcribing needs an account — we’ll hold onto your file while you sign in.
Straight from Voice Memos
iPhone voice memos are M4A files, and they upload as they are. Share the memo to Files, or AirDrop it to your computer, and pick it on this page.
Android recorders that save M4A, MP3 or WAV work the same way.
Keep the idea, not just the sound
A recording tells you how something sounded. The MIDI tells you what it was: which voicing, which bass note, how the line went. That is what you need to finish a piece, arrange it, or show it to someone.
Put it in your DAW and the idea is already on the grid of your session, ready to build on.
Phone recordings are fine
The model was trained on real recordings, not studio stems, and handles a phone’s microphone well. Get the phone off the piano lid and away from the strings, keep the room quiet, and play.
If you hummed or talked over the top, expect a few extra notes there.
Questions
How long can the memo be?
The free plan transcribes recordings up to 10 minutes long, 10 minutes every 30 days. Standard takes recordings up to 15 minutes, and Pro up to 30.
Will it quantise what I played?
No. It keeps your timing exactly. Quantise it in your DAW or notation software if you want it on the grid.
Can it tell my two hands apart?
Yes, tick "Separate hands" before uploading. It is right most of the time, and least sure where the hands play close together.
